Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, producing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Homeowners observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Victoria's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

During the peak on yesterday, over twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
