The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Each time a major prize-giving event draws close, you'll find an outcry for the addition fresh award types to honor overlooked contributions and fill the spirits of followers with niche passions.

My colleague has already made supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. So would board games, this being a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward because like all blinkered fanatics, there's a strong justification supporting my request stands as crucial above others. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it remains highly personal, and typically spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why movie academies don’t do it. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise for the industry of video games, which are so diverse they barely qualify a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards currently feature genre categories for Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these classifications effectively encompass a lot of ground, and you can find room accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Consider three of outstanding current releases, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, intense tile-matching in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Which classification works among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match classification types such as Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • A different innovative game missed out during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title got ignored that year
  • Just some brain-teasers barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often compact experiences, however the design in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games rank among the most-played games globally and have been for many years.

The famous puzzle experience rivals famous sandbox experiences claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. It would be easy to populate five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories in important events. Logic title developers operate at the demanding boundary game development, developing some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Comparable to film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay generations.
